MOBmontreal wants to be the HUB of the conversation on the role of play in civic engagement. To do this, We are inviting a large number of actors from various fields to a series of weekly 5@7s that are to be conversations around subjects related to playful citizen mobilization.
This Monday we will be talking about : The role of play in the human experience.
Difficult to speak of “games” in Montreal these days without bringing up images of the video-game industry and it’s creations; Yet, games and play exist in many other forms : from face to face play, to narrative design to interface design and even in business design, engagement mechanics inspired from games are everywhere.
This week, our guests will take us out of the self-fulfilling trap of game design for the sake of game-design to speak instead on one’s internal posture of play, of how to awaken one’s sense of imagination, on games that help us hold quality dialogue and games that support social engagement.

From the young age, Juan Carlos has been sensitive to others, and aware of how genuine interactions can be invigorating, propelling, and sometimes even healing. As an Art of Hosting practioner, his focus as a practitioner is on bringing more joy and creativity into meetings, thus generating energy and contributing to the overall well-being and prosperity of people and organizations.
His academic background is in International Development, with a specialization in Local Development and Territorial Planning. His interest in such issues as global dialogue, concertation and multiple stakeholders decision making, have lead him to explore non-conventional territories during a year-long trip in Europe and Latin America visiting intentional communities.
Jonathan Bélisle (VP Design Innovation & Stratégie @ SAGA)
Serial Web Entrepreneur since 1997, Passionate UX Director, Creative Technologist, Inspired Teacher, Jonathan studied Narratology in Cinema and has mastered Visual Thinking and Blended it with various Ethnography & Service Design Methods to playfully approach complex problems in Connected Experiences involving Locative & Networked Medias. He has the curiosity of a scientist and the passion of an artist. You can find his sketchs and thoughts on the future of Interaction & Immersion on his personal blog Futurographer and some more at SAGA LAB. He is the founder of Noetic Assembly a SoundScaper Collective and Noem Toys a Cognitive Toys Builder. He is also the co-founder of UX MTL and Transmedia QCMTL . As an Organizational Storyteller & Business Designer he transformed many companies he worked with such as: Inconet, Stratsite, C-Local, Loft8, SidLee, StayNomad, Pheromone, BlueSponge, Iweb, SagaFilms. In 2012, Jonathan joined SAGA as VP Business Design Strategy + R&D
